BSS questions Isro chief claims, asks why Isro hasn’t used tech from Vedas to build rockets, satellites

The Breakthrough Science Society (BSS), a collective of scientists and researchers, on Tuesday urged public figures, including administrators of scientific organisations to reflect the ethos of science in their discourse, while terming a recent statement about science in ancient India by Isro chairman S Somanath “an unrealistic claim”.

Scientists led by PRL professor discover new Jupiter-size exoplanet

A new Jupiter-sized exoplanet — a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system — with highest density of around 14 g/cm3 known till this date, and mass 13 times that of Jupiter has been discovered by an international team of scientists.

Isro successfully launches 2nd-gen navigation sat

Around 19 minutes after the rocket lifted off from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, the 51.7m-tall, 420 tonnes three-stage GSLV-F12 placed the 2,232kg satellite at a 251km altitude. In the coming days, Isro scientists will perform manoeuvres by firing the onboard propellant to place the satellite in its final orbit.

Heart attacks now rising in 40-50 age group: Mumbai hosp

"Between 2011 and 2022, heart attack admissions increased by five times, and patients belonging to the 40-50 age group increased by 33% in the same period," said Dr Gore, who heads the emergency room (ER) at Fortis Hospital, Mulund.
