The plea, filed by parents of nearly 4,000 NEET (undergraduate) candidates, sought to alternatively postpone the examination until the COVID-19 pandemic normalises.
Schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed till 31st August 2020. Online/ distance learning shall continue to be permitted and shall be encouraged.
The NEP 2020 proposes a major restructuring in higher education doing away with affiliation to the university system and empowering colleges to grant degrees, while the four-year degree, a proposal junked in 2014, is being brought back as the “preferred” option.
The notification for CAT 2020 will be released on August 2 in newspapers. As per the schedule available on the official website, the registration process will commence on August 5 and conclude on September 16.
The Common Entrance Test (CET) 2020 will be conducted as scheduled on Thursday and Friday, following the Karnataka high court decision on Wednesday declining to stay the exam.
