Nasa scientists find massive hole on Sun, 20 times larger than Earth

Nasa scientists have spotted a massive black region on the Sun, which is 20 times larger than Earth. The appearance of the “coronal hole” has prompted US federal agency National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to sound out an alert for geomagnetic storms as the gaping hole is unleashing 1.8 million mile-per-hour solar winds towards Earth, which will impact the planet on Friday.

ISRO's LVM3 successfully injects 36 satellites into intended orbits

The Indian Space Research Organisation's heaviest LVM3 rocket on Sunday successfully placed 36 internet satellites of UK-based OneWeb group company into intended orbits. The 43.5 metre tall rocket blasted off at a prefixed time of 9 am today, from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre here, about 135 kms from Chennai, at the end of a 24.30 hour countdown.

Distant exoplanets could harbour life in 'terminator zones': Study

"Terminator zones" on distant exoplanets, or zones where the "day" side of the planet meets the "night" side, could potentially harbour extraterrestrial life, according to a new study. Low oxygen conditions on coral reefs could intensify by up to 287 pc by 2100: Study

Scientists have projected using climate models a substantial increase in cases of hypoxia, or low oxygen conditions on coral reefs, by the year 2100 under all warming scenarios. According to them, the increase ranges from 13 to 42 per cent under one scenario to 97 to 287 per cent under a more extreme scenario relative to now.
